Washington, D.C., November 2025 — ABISOM IP & Law Firm is proud to announce that our Managing Director, Mr. Abdisalan Muse, participated in the prestigious World Bank Group Law, Justice and Development (LJD) Week 2025, held from 3–5 November 2025 at the World Bank Headquarters in Washington, D.C. The annual forum brings together global leaders, legal experts, policymakers, scholars and development practitioners to explore how legal systems can drive sustainable development, promote peace, strengthen institutions, and support global economic growth. The 2025 edition focused on modernizing justice systems, improving access to fair legal processes, leveraging technology in the rule of law, and building regulatory environments that support inclusive and resilient development.

Throughout the three-day event, Mr. Muse took part in intensive discussions and high-level dialogue sessions that examined the role of law in economic transformation, peacebuilding, and societal resilience. He engaged in expert conversations on judicial capacity-building in developing countries, the modernization of legal and regulatory frameworks, the strengthening of intellectual property protection in emerging markets, and the critical role of innovation and digital transformation in legal practice. These topics directly connect with the mission and ongoing work of ABISOM IP & Law Firm, which has been at the forefront of supporting legal modernization in Somalia, especially in the areas of trade regulation, intellectual property rights, competition law, and commercial dispute resolution.

A major highlight of the forum was Mr. Muse’s meeting with the World Bank Group Senior Vice President and General Counsel, Mr. Christopher Stephens. During their discussion, Mr. Muse presented ABISOM’s ongoing work in strengthening legal institutions in East Africa including Somalia and shared practical insights on the country’s efforts to build a modern legal system that supports economic development. The conversation covered a range of important topics, including improving legal capacity within Somali institutions, reinforcing intellectual property and competition frameworks, expanding access to justice, and exploring avenues for collaboration between Somali legal actors and World Bank initiatives. This engagement underscored ABISOM’s growing global presence and its role in promoting justice and development in Somalia and beyond.

At LJD Week 2025, ABISOM played an important role in representing East Africa specifically Somalia within the international legal community. Mr. Muse offered perspectives on how strong legal institutions can contribute to sustainable development and highlighted the importance of predictable regulatory environments in attracting investment and supporting entrepreneurship. He also emphasized the critical need for reliable dispute resolution mechanisms and the protection of intellectual property as foundations for innovation, digital transformation, and economic diversification. By sharing ABISOM’s experience in providing expert legal advisory services, supporting private sector development, and contributing to justice-sector reforms, Mr. Muse demonstrated how Somali legal practitioners are contributing to global conversations on law, governance, and development.

ABISOM’s participation in LJD Week 2025 has also strengthened the firm’s international partnerships and enriched its understanding of global legal trends. Insights gained from the forum will support ABISOM’s ongoing work in Somalia, ensuring that clients, government institutions and development partners benefit from a legal practice that is both internationally informed and locally grounded. The discussions held throughout the week have provided ABISOM with new knowledge on evolving global regulatory standards, modern approaches to intellectual property, and innovative strategies for justice reform that can be adapted to the Somali context.

By taking part in this influential global event, ABISOM reaffirmed its commitment to contributing to international legal development and promoting the rule of law as a cornerstone of sustainable growth. Our engagement with global leaders and institutions during LJD Week reflects our determination to elevate Somalia’s legal landscape, strengthen our country’s presence in international legal forums, and continue building a legal practice that supports peace, development, innovation and justice. ABISOM looks forward to deepening its collaboration with the World Bank Group and other global partners as we continue to champion legal excellence and contribute to a more just and prosperous world.
